Join the Mayors of our local cities and John Moorlach, Orange County Supervisor at this annual event, featuring Tim Salmon, one of the greatest players in the Angels’ franchise history.
Have you ever been so discouraged that you just wanted to quit or give up? I can relate to that through my recent struggles. In 2001, I experience my worst season ever, establishing career lows in batting average, homeruns and RBI’s. Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, I started the 2002 season in a similar slump. I began to wonder if my career was coming to an end and even considered retirement.
In the midst of those struggles, I spent many hours in prayer and seeking counsel from my wife, Marci and others as to where God was leading in my life. During this dark time God shed light on what He wanted me to learn. Instead of quitting, He taught me the importance of perseverance, of trusting Him in all areas of my life, of casting my cares upon Him because He cares for me. I discovered that God’s power is perfected in my weakness and that He is able to do immeasurably more beyond all I could ask or imagine.
As the 2002 season progressed, I was awed by all that God did to give me peace and at all the blessings I enjoyed. Our team went on to win it’s first World Series and I hit the game winning home run in game two. The Sporting News and Players Choice named me comeback player of the year! I would not have experienced these blessings had I quit when times were tough.
In 1987 I placed my trust in Jesus Christ and knew He loved me enough to die for me. Now I had to rely on Him alone and trust in Him to guide me thorough this discouraging time of my life. Are you discouraged? Thinking of quitting? Don’t! God has something special planned for your future, so trust Him.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-3)

This Prayer Breakfast is the local version of the National Prayer Breakfast, which is held annually in Washington, D.C. The annual National Prayer Breakfast was inaugurated in 1952 by religious leadership groups in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives as a time for rededication of the individual and the nation to God.
John Moorlach, Orange County Supervisor and the Orange Coast Mayors look forward to your participation.
